    Rescue Diver questions

I am looking to start my rescue diver course soon. Are there any major differences in the organizations? I really like the SSI books as they can go in depth. I know it varies with shops but can someone give me an idea on how much they spent on the SSI pack? How about PADI or NAUI? Also can you complete the course without being CPR/First Aid and get your cert card later or do you have to have it done before? I will have my CPR/ First Aid by the end of this month.

I'm thinking you need to have the CPR/First Aid Cert for the class. The skills you learn in that will be used in the rescue class. (But, I'm not the expert here)

For padi you have to have CPR/First aid. O2 provider is good too since you use o2 for rescue.

Thanks for that info. I will be first aid/cpr certified in a week. Now my next question would be do you guys think I am still too in experienced to begin the course with only about 35 dives under my belt. I am a fairly confident diver and have pretty good bouancy skills although those will never be perfect and can always be better.

I think you should be able to handle it no problem from what you've stated.
If you get confused listen to the music play.
To much of everything is just enough.

And most of the rescue course happens at the surface - not underwater anyway. There will be a little search, and raising an unconscious diver, but a lot of what you are going to work on is surface control, resuscitation, transport, etc.

Ok thanks for the info guys!! I think I am going to do a drysuit/nitrox combo course and when I finish that up try and start the Rescue class. Is the NAUI Rescue program comparable to PADI? I cant seem to find too much information on it as it is mostly about PADI. Do you guys know what the requirements/ standards are for the NAUI course?

Not sure about anything other than padi and tdi, but I really enjoyed my padi rescue class. I learned a ton and I already had to be CPR/first aid qualified. One thing I thought was dumb was I needed to go out and purchase the CPR/first aid course when I am a certified emt.. It seemed like I was going backwards in training a little but I understand it is just a requirement.
