    Tec Setup questions

Alright after reviewing a ton of sites and reviews, I am curious what your thoughts are on this set up. Also, how do you add weight to a BP/Wing? just in an added pocket?

Here are the items I plan on buying:

HOG Back Plate Pad - $28
    Oxycheq Hogarthian Harness - $45
OMS Single Tank Adapter with Tank Bands - $92
HOG Stainless Steel Backplate - $89
OMS Single Bladder BC 45 lb. lift with Bungee - $????

Scubatoys.com, can you give me a price quite for OMS single bladder BC 45lb lift with bungee?

I feel as though I am missing some items, can you guys help me out, this is my first wing/bp as I am switching from a zeagle brigade. Please provide any pro/cons to what I have listed. Thanks for all the help!!

This is just me but I would not buy the back plate pad but having a back plate storage compartment for lift of SMB is a nice. Oxycheq Hog Harness is fine, and the Hog Plate is fine. I like diving with a STA because I like the way it feels. The a 45 lbs bladder is huge for single tank diving, might want to look at the Oxycheq Mach 30lb wing. The Oxycheq wing is more compact and trims out better in the water. I have the Hollis plate with Mach wing and have dove up to a steel 119 without even getting close to maxing out the wings lift. I have a 20lb sidemount wing that I dive double AL80 and times I have third AL80 or AL40.

Thanks for the info. The reason I picked that wing was because I was thinking u could use it with singles or doubles with stage/deco bottles hanging on the sides. I appreciate the input. Would this still be too much lift if I was say using doubles with an additional deco or two?

The worst thing you can do is try to make a single wing work for doubles and singles. It will be equally BAD for both. Get a single wing (the Oxy Mach V is my fav) for now. When you are ready to move into doubles, then buy a wing for that.

Makes sence. So say I got the Mach v bladder for single, what is your recommendation for doubles?

When I bought my doubles (Halcyon 50) wing there were almost no options available. I know there are a lot of great options now, but I can't recommend one because I have never used any of them.

Depending on what you are planning on using for the switch to double tanks. For Alu80 doubles I'd pick up a hog 38lb lift wing Scuba Diving BCDs Back Plate & Wing Wings with reviews on sale

if i were diving steel twins id look for something like this: HOG 58Lb Air Cell discounts on sale HOG

I like hog because their gear is solid and a wicked price. Other then that, Oxycheq hands down.

For weighting you can get things like the halcyon active control ballast pouches, or oxychec has pouches, and so do a few other manufactures. you can mount some hard weights to the cam bands for single tank as well. and when you move to doubles chances are you will use a "V" weight.....mounts between the tanks and plate.

Some really good advice. Pretty much covered a lot of what I would have said. Only thing I would add is maybe keep a little weight on your waist. I like to wear enough so that I'm neutral in the water if I take off my gear. If all your weight is on the backplate you'll become buoyant if you take it off. Additionally, if all your weight is on the backplate you might have trouble floating it at the surface.

Also, for singles I like the donut wings. You might want to see if ScubaToys rents any of these or has one you can try out in a pool. Wings can be very personal.

    Most have hit the highlights.

    I don't use a back plate pad- haven't ever felt a need.

A harness is a harness, unless you get into the deluxe harnesses. I had a broken shoulder + 2 surgeries- I use a Deluxe because it is easier "for me" to get out of.

STA- personal preference- I have one w/6 lb. weight. I'll use it for ocean diving where I need extra weight- otherwise not. I have the Zeagle weight pockets that attach to the plate and waist belt + 2 pocket on the top tank strap to adjust trim if needed.

SS or AL plate- personal preference. I use the AL for travel.

Wing- I have an Oxygcheq Mach V 30lb. Perfect for singles. My 2nd rig has a Hollis 25lb. wing- which I get to try Sunday.

If you'd like to get together sometime- I'll let you try both out. 1 is Zeagle the other is Hollis.
