    Kinda going DIR

I was diving with the Scubatoys gang last summer and got a look at Devil Divers set up. I have been pretty much spamming him since then. Actually I have been spamming him since I bought my first underwater camera three years ago.

    Dats a lot spam!

Anyway I just pretty much copied his set up.

I am having a 5' hose added to my main reg routed under the shoulder with a 70 elbow and my octo on a necklace.

    I am also switching to a BP/W.

I did decide to go with a weightbelt instead of putting the weight on the BP/W. I never really liked having my BCD full of weights and I sure didn't like handing it up to the boat. I would much rather just hand up a weightbelt like in days of yore.

I am really pumped to try out all the new gear.

I won't get to try out the gear before I go to Curacao 12/27 so any tips on possible hang ups with this new set up would be greatly appreciated

My best suggest to you is find a pool somewhere and get in before you leave for vacation. Switching to a B/P not only comes with requiring different amounts of weight but it can have huge trim issue. When I first switched I was nose heavy which made it almost impossible to enjoy the dive while standing on my head. I found that I had switch to a heavier rubber fin or I would have to wear ankle weights.
My first sidemount dive was in heavy rubber fins and if I stopping kick even for few seconds my feet would sink till I was vertical in the water.

Let me know when the kit comes in...

I forgot to ask if you planned to use bungee for your back up reg necklace?

If I get the chance for some pool time I will but I don't see it happening. We are going to Curacao and our first dives will be equipment checks. Where are diving in a cove and the first 30-40 yeards are pretty much a pool. We have all been in dry dock for a year so starting off easy is on everyones agenda

I got it last night DD. You mean the bp/w right ?

This is the necklace I got

    Yep....

I know, it sounds uncomfortable but it's not.

Actually it helps keep your rig snug and in place also from moving up when at the surface. You can also add extra d-rings if wanted, traditionaly a front d-ring can be used for a scooter and a back can be used for storage (spools, SMB, ect..).

Here is a video on threading the harness also.

I go for the thinner 1" crotch strap. Mucho Grande more comfy for me. 2" made me feel spread.
