Question Do you have a brand of gear you absolutely will not buy?

As the title states, but I'd like to know why.

While I don't want this to turn into a negative thread, essentially I'm curious about the histories behind some of the companies and the brands on offer from them. I know a lot of people have been given a sour taste in their mouth by ScubaPro's dumping of gear online through "grey markets" if I may use that as an example of why I am reluctant to buy ScubaPro over something like say, Atomic, and I'm curious what other companies have done in the past if any that would deter you from buying them.

Let's see... Dacor, Imperial, Voit, White Stag... all out of business lol. I don't have a problem with Scubapro, except to say you pay a little extra for the name-same as Halcyon but the gear is well made and has a good service life. Before I buy anyhting, I try to research it well, ifI can't find a lot of information - say a manufacturers website, it's a no-go. If I've never heard of it, not buying. I seem to migrate towards Div Rite and Hollis for main compontents, XS Scuba for small items and BARE for exposure myself.

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

Well I love my Oceanic computer (an Atom) but I'm getting a bit miffed as I've had my 2nd Oceanic compass go bad. My LDS got the 1st one replaced, but I'm about 900 miles away from them now, and it's been a few years on the 2nd, so I may be out of luck, and just have to buy a new one .... any suggestions?

I will never put another nickel of my money towards Jeurgenson Marine or hammerhead products in general.

I shy away from Princeton Tec lights. I've owned two different types and the first one flooded the first time I used it and never would work right after. The 2nd one I owned fell apart very quickly...things on the inside just broke.

Just my experience with their products.
