What is the time line for the upgrade?

So, there I was, having a wonderful weekend diving and come back to find we are upgrading the forum. My only question is what is the timeline to being finished? I am greatful we can still get online and post and I am getting to where I can navigate the default setting well.

No real complaints, just wondering and I'm thankful we have folks like TommyB who can upgrade this stuff. If you asked me to do it, I'd have the deer in the headlights look and would probably implode.

I'm sure it's a lot of work and I too couldn't even begin to figure it out...I keep telling myself, Patients my friend it will be back better than ever.

I am pretty sure that the decision to not give us the administrator's password was a good one.

Just had a great thought. Everyone should type gibberish in all of their posts like this: sdfjs;ous0fwefhdo;vbvsdvsdfjsofsvbv. It would drive the admin crazy trying to find the problem on this new install. Of course, this only works if everyone does it, otherwise it will be blamed on a browser issue.

I wonder if Blue/Green deploys and A/B testing might work here? A Blue/Green deploy is where you have a working version of the website, you deploy a new version but everyone continues using the old version. After the new site has been fully testing, you switch which site the general populous connects to. A/B testing is where you have a select group of users access a new version of the website. Together you would have Blue/Green (old/new website) and for A/B testing, you create a small group of users which would see the new website but most people would see the old website until the switch.

I don't know how the website is deployed and if both versions can share the same database (difficult if new website has a not backward compatible database migration) but maybe something to think about.

I believe the question was focused on the template. Default vB4 and mobile are the only templates that I show available, workable but plain with no customization.

I am having issues replying to post and instant messages, "quick reply" is causing a lockup where windows wants to close the page and reopen, loosing whatever was posted. Anyone else having this issue?
