    Intova sport II and galaxy light?

    So, I'm wanting to get into HD video.

    Looking at this

    http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...tHDIICameraSP2

    anyone use one?

    I'm going to get a video light, and I'm looking at this:

    http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...laxyVideoLight

    The camera is reasonably wide angle (140 degrees) not as wide as the go pro (170 degrees, crazy wide) but still wide enough for my purposes. I like having the fixed LCD screen, and of course the price is attractive.

    Has anyone ever used the camera?

    The light is interesting, 2500 lumen, with a fairly wide coverage area - 140 degrees. I'm wondering what my penetration will be on in the typical diving I do (75-100ft vis blue water) how far do you think I can be from subject and still get some colors?

    appreciate any input.

    Ray

    I haven't used the Intovetec but I have used the Sola lights. Same money and a great light. Devildiver and Pandora use them.

    @dive hard - Pretty Slick!

    @Packrman - I hadn't noticed the Sola's were down in the $400 range...last I looked they seemed to be a bit more...will have a look.

    Well - I pulled the trigger and ordered the sport camera, an arm/tray assembly and one of the galaxy lights. Joey at the shop helped me with what I needed in the tray/arm assembly. For now, just one arm, and one light. Later if I want to add something to the other side it's an easy expansion. Should be in, in another week.

    I'm pretty pumped. I've had a lot of fun shooting video with my sealife in 640x480 with the software driven red filter. However, I'm really hoping this can up the quality of my video in terms of resolution and weird pixellation that happens when you play low res on high def displays like any computers display or television. As for the quality of getting smoother shots - that will come with time.

    All told $620 for camera, tray/arm/light - out the door.

    I'm also buying the close up/macro lense for about another $30.

    Taking it to Roatan in March - woohoo!!!!

    Looks like you have a pretty good setup. They must have given you a heck of a deal on the tray and arm.

    Can you get a red filter for this setup? I think you will be happier if you could have a red filter for Roatan. I would suggest something you could clip on/off for deeper/shallower water.

    Yes there is. But there is also a software red filter "dive mode" on the sport II. I was thinking I would use that for anything around 25 ft or so (top of the wall where light is plentiful) or possibly deeper if trying capture a distant scene. Then for 6ft or closer use light w/o dive mode. Only concern is how easy or hard it is to change modes. Forgive typos...on my phone.

    <later edit> I actually went to BH photo (they carry more accessories in stock for the camera than scubatoys, I bought my rig from scubatoys however). they don't seem to sell the red filter anymore. they do sell a red filter/macro lense combo, but not just the straight red filter. the original SP1 camera had no software red filter...so I'm guessing when they added that feature they stopped or at least slowed down making the hardware red filter.

    However, - this leads to another question, do you think I'm looking at doing it right...red filter down to the top of the wall/top reef area (you know where you drop off the boat, and kick over to the wall) and then using light below that - is the right way to go?
