    Greenbo Lake SCUBA Refuge open

The SCUBA Refuge at Greenbo Lake State Park (Northeast Kentucky) is open for diving. The entire area is managed by a on-Profit group (the Friends of Greenbo Lake State Resort Park), of witch I am the head of the divers (they gave me the title, I'm just a diver that tries to work hard for the area). All of the money for the dive area improvements comes from donations and fundraisers. We only get about $2.75 from the daily dive fee that the park charges. As such we are doing what we can as we can get the money for improvements and services. I am working on placing a navigation course, buoyancy obstacle course, and 2-3 training platforms. We are trying to get enough money to purchase a compressor/cascade system for air fills, and place handicap access.

In general the viz is 20+ feet and temp 80 Degrees F in the summer. in late Summer and early Fall freshwater jellyfish come out. Fish life is abundant, with Bluegill, Bass, Crappie, Carp, Catfish, and Trout (not seen often due to they stay in the deeper part of the lake).

On sight is a Lodge, restaurant, campground, public pool, amphitheater, and boat launch ramp with boat rentals. There are also hiking and horse trails.

I think this is going to become one of the great dive locations in this part of the country.

Sounds like fun. What's the full day charge to dive?

I once saved a man in Wichita just to watch him dive...(inventor)

I just googled it and its $12 a day park fee. Its actually really close to me. I have said for years I need to do some freshwater diving to work my skills. Well looks like I don't have anymore excuses!

Where do you live? I'm looking for more people to dive with. If you come dive, fill out a review form. I am trying to come up with ideas for things to put in the lake.

The deepest spot I found is 33 ft, but I have been told there is a spot that is about 45 feet. It's not deep but it is better than anything else in the area (within 2 hrs).

If it's wet, somewhat clear and wet, who can complain?
