    drysuit practice

so I've been practicing drysuit use and navigation for the past couple of weeks over at Beaver and I'm getting more and more comfortable with both.

Question/statement is about the drysuit use. When I begin my ascent to the safety stop I try to remove as much air from suit as possible and just use the wing. Every 5 feet I vent the suit by rolling to the left and chicken winging it. I found this to work best for me to have little or no air in suit at the safety stop. I've been able to hover at 20 ft for as long as it takes doing this. Before I started doing this I felt a little floaty at safety stop.

    Thoughts? suggestions?

Sounds like you have it figured out to me. I tend to keep a bit of squeeze on my suit during the dive so I just try to keep it at that same level during ascent.

This is why many instructors require their DS students to use only the suit for buoyancy. Only one bag of gas to deal with. It may be "easier" but it's not the best.

while I'm using wing and suit during the dive I've found it easier to control just the wing from 25 feet up

This is why its often recommend to completely "open" the dump valve when you start the ascent, let the suit vent it's self and you only have to focus on the BC.
