It was a nice weekend. We're looking at making another trip, possibly next month. If we can't do it then, then we'll try to go in January.

That will give me a chance to get in some dry suit dives first in shallower water. I'll be ordering my dry suit when I get back.

Izu is actually about a 3 hour drive away depending on traffic.

Hayama is where we do most of our local driving, thats only about 15 minutes :-) Check out my photos in the gallery for some shots of Hayama. I guess I should start a thread on Hayama also :-))

I've heard that Okinawa temps in December shoud be around 5mm-ish:
    23-24C
Definitely recommend Kerama Islands...accessable from Naha (where the main airport is)

    Can't Wait

    Hey Bill,
My name is Bob, I'm on the Hawk with Don and Mitch.
Just thought I'd tell ya how nice the pics are, must be one hell of a camera. Can't wait to get to Izu. Looking forward to pulling back in.

Can't wait to get back and get some more diving in. We all need to get together when the Hawk pulls in and do some diving. Hey did you end up going to PI?

Hi Bob... actually it's just a little "point and shoot". A Canon Powershot A630. You can buy one in the Exchange for around $225.00. It's 8.0 megapixels. If I had it to do over I would probably just go ahead and get the A640. Same camera but 10.0 megapixels. I think it was only around a $100 bucks more. The underwater housing on the other hand cost more than the camera ;-) If I remember it was around $350.

Looking forward to seeing you guys when you get back. I should have my dry suit by then :-))

We will definitely get together when you guys get back. I'd really like organize another trip to Izu.

I did end up going to the Philippines, just got back last night. Ended up diving Malapascua and Moalboal in Cebu. I had a really great time and it was nice to get one last taste of warm water before winter sets in ;-) I'm in the process now of organizing my photo's (I took over 1300) and writing up my trip report.

See you guys when ya'll get back.... say hi to everyone.

Wow I can't wait to go visit relatives in Japan now. Hopefully I can convince them to go diving! Oh Bill I have a question, AAFES doesn't have any sort of diving gear and I couldn't find any wetsuits with them (Fort Hood ones don't have it and niether does their online site). Does the Navy exchange have any sort of this stuff? I haven't been able to get on their website recently. I hadn't heard of Scuba Toys until the other day when I was browsing the internet but I think I'd still like to take a look off the Navy exchange before I go ahead and buy alot of stuff off this site. Thanks.
