It's not a 'lesser of two evils' thing, either. It's a matter of my positions on most every major (and minor) issues are so far from that of every single candidate on the left, I would be an idiot to vote against what makes me, me, and my opinions, mine.

Exactly. The problems arise when small minded people hold onto ideas as if they are religion. Then when someone comes along and disputes those ideas, they become offended and begin slinging insults becuase they lack any thought behind thier convictions.

    Or

When two different camps both have strong evidence for opposite views. Such as in the global warming debate. You may not agree with the science behind the other side, but there IS a scientific basis for it. That one can get really nasty too.

But I have faith that we can keep things on a discusionary tone here.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me how heated it gets, but when you stop attacking the opinion and you start attacking the person, that's when I consider it 'out of control'. I've been running my own discussion forums for many years, and ran a BBS (bulletin board system) starting back in the late 1980's, before the Internet became as common as electricity and phone service.

Yes, but a bigger yet related problem is that some people can't (or won't) tell the difference between evidence and opinion.

Now I would list this as voting blindly.

Why even discuss the real issues if this is how it will be settled? Let the semi-corrupt back room political party choose. <<<=== this refers to both parties!!! and If Republican was switched for Democratic I would say the same.

Come on if you want to debate a point but if the outcome is this then the debate is pointless.

I don't seeing this as voting blindly because he stated in that same post that the reason for this is because any of the Democratic candidates would be so far out of touch with his beliefs that he knows he would never vote for one of them....

The point of debate is to bring someone else around to your way of thinking by presenting your side of the argument...While I have a particular candidate in mind for the primary, if they don't win the primary my support will fall to the Republican candidate who does. This is simply because there are no viable third party candidates, and none of the Democrat Party candidates are even in the same idealogical universe that I'm in.....

Well, based upon the answers so far, I would say that this board does veer to the right, but at this risk of piling on, here is a cute video on hillary..

You never really know what to believe on the internet, but interestin video all the same. Worth investigating and finding the facts for yourself if you so desire.

Ahh, the BBS. I remember them well. I wasted countless nights on my local boards posting and playing TradeWars.

Funny, BBS's used to be like LDS's. People developed thier favorite local board, and rivalries flaired. I remember when a board having multiple lines was a big deal, 1200bd modems were screaming fast, and a 1meg pic file took about an hour to download. We had to work hard for our digi-porn back been. Did I just say that?
