Solo class

Well, I am off in a few minutes to go do my solo class. I will let you all know what I think of the class.

Let's hear it? Sorry I didn't get the chance to talk with you more Kyle. As you could see my wife was in a very "Pissy" mood. She was ready to give up on diving all together!

Had a Hell of a time getting my wife trimmed out in her back plate. Had to switch her down to a Al. 80cf. tank and use the Halcyon weight pockets. Thanks to my Mentor "Rev. Runkle" it all worked out and everything is good in her world.

The class went fine. I am just now checking out of the motel, so I will put up a more informative post when I get home tonight. Kenny, glad you got things worked out. And yes, I did happen to notice that she was not in the best of moods!! It happens. We will talk and dive again soon.

I was beginning to think you flunked the solo dive and were lost out there somewhere (j/k).

While I hav emy own thought on the concept of the class, I look forward to hearing from you what you went over, how the class was run, and the high/low points of it.

Ok, finally made it home!

The class was done at Captain Johns in Oronogo, MO. The class was well done, and covers the expected: redundant everything, dive planning, emergency procedures, etc.

After the classroom part, we hit the water to do some dives. Emphasis was placed on being able to plan and conduct the dives, and the ability to solve problems on your own.

All in all a good class. If you have done any amount of solo dives most of the material will be a review. But still a good class, with good instruction.

Ok, Im not the run of the mill diver. I am a solo diver but I tossed many dives under my belt for it. What is the deal with a class for everything? Is there a wetsuit class? A hood class? How about a drysuit class? I find it interesting when I started there were dive classes and then you just figured it out as you went along. Wreck diving class? I actually seen that one. had to chuckle. Ok, I got it off my chest.

Give John a call: (417) 673-2724 Usually you will have to leave a meddage and he'll get back with you.

The cost should be around $150. Additional equipment: Pony bottle that's at least 30 cu ft or doubles with a isolator valve, a lift bag or at least 20# lift SMB, a reel or finger spool, Compass and your normal array of gear.

John will usually send you the solo book so you can read it before you get there.
