Fiji ~

Can anyone recommend a small Fiji resort that's clean, decent food, no A/C necessary, that some divers who have never been to the Pacific would enjoy? We're trying to get to the Pacific out of the Caribbean for some new critters.

Well when I went I did a liveaboard but if you want a resort two I've heard of which are good values are:

Garden Island Resort on Taveuni and Dive Kadavu/Matana Resort.

Hope that helps.

We stayed at the Uprising Beach Resort at Pacific Harbour when diving Beqa Lagoon with Beqa Adventure Divers. It was a nice quite resort not near a major city. Other than the resort activities, shark and coral diving there were only a few land activities to do. I've hear Raki Raki is good, you might want to check that out.

Good looking accomodations and prices good too. But we were looking for a smaller place, less people. How was the diving...do you have a trip report online by any chance?

Less people really depends on when you go. We went in March and the resort was very quite. Sometimes we were the only ones at the bar and made conversation with the staff.

As for the dives, On the shark dive the boat was full.. When we asked if we could do a coral dive we were the only ones on the boat. But I think thats because Beqa is more renowed for the shark diving than the coral dives...But we enjoyed both.

I didn't do a trip report for Fiji, but do a search on the forums for Beqa.

The lagoon resort is right next door to BAD, but was very quite for a resort...maybe more of what your after.

I'm really wanting to go to Fiji next year - I have airline miles to use up and that's where I want to go, but I'll probably be alone so does anyone know any group trips I could join in on??

My advise is to skip Fiji with it's mass tourism and Indian hasslers. Go to Vanuatu. It's pristine, people are really nice and not out on your wallet. There's loads of things to discover, and you don't end up between the kind of tourists you probaply don't want to be with. You'll spend about the same for a resort hotel, maybe a bit more on the flight.
Diving: The Coolidge, Million Dollar point and way more.
