Fiji-Raki Raki & Beqa Lagoon info?

I am looking to go to Fiji-Raki Raki and Beqa Lagoon next year ....I want to go when the water is about 82+ and good vis....I understand their winter is the best vis but cooler waters...gotta have that warm stuff.
So what would December (08) or late March (09) be like?...Standard questions....Good places to stay? Good dive op?
Thanks for any info.

I just came back from a diving trip at Beqa Lagoon Resort. I can tell you that it is a fabulous resort.

The Resort:
It is not a very large resort. It can accomodate about 50 people but when I was there, there were only about 30. The resort grounds are beautifully landscapes. The rooms are nice and big. We stayed in a family bure with a fantastic view of the lagoon from our balcony. The food is great and the staff is very polite and helpful. They have a swimming pool but hardly anyone uses it since the lagoon is sooo much nicer.

You can do unlimited shore diving. The shore diving is really easy. It is a very shallow dive (about 20-25 feet max). The visibility on the shore dives is not so high but you do see a lot of coral and small fish/critters. It makes a good check-out dive or a relaxing afternoon dive.

There are shore activities everyday at the reosort so you have something to do in the afternoons.

Diving:
I found the diving in Beqa Lagoon to be the best I have done so far. The dive sites are about 30-35 min. boat ride. The water was about 78 deg and the visibility was about 80+ feet on most dives. The corals were very healthy and there are lots of fish. We saw a number of lion fish, eels, turtles, sharks and tons or reef fish. There were no currents and most dives were less than 70 ft. Only the wreck dives are greater than 70 ft.

The dive operation is very good. They take care of the equipment for the whole week. You only have to take care of your wetsuit and cameras.

Send me a pm if you want more details.

Beqa Lagoon Resort

I have been to Beqa Lagoon Resort a number of times, and I too, highly recommend it. Go to their web site at www.beqalagoonresort.com and get their number and call Debra. She will give you info about water temps, rainy seasons, etc.
The diving there is excellent. Great food. Good people. Very relaxing. I true vacation!

Hey Travelnsj

You're in luck ... I'm off to Raki Raki (staying at Wananavu Beach Resort) in a little over 2 weeks

I will be able to give you a report when I get back! I had hoped to go down to Beqa Lagoon to do the shark dive too, but it's a bit far away.

I will be very interested in your report.....from what I understand if you do Beqa and Raki Raki....you do not end up with a no dive day as it is a land transfer.....from what I have found or heard so far those two spots are the best diving in Fiji.

Was there in March

Stayed at Wananvu. Nera Riki-Riki. GREAT place and dive ops. Best diving is off shore. The near shore is OK, but the trip out is where you will see the Agressor fleet diving. All can be arranged easily. BE SURE to do the Kava Drink!
