Diving in Moorea

Hi,
I'm heading to Tahiti (Moorea to be specific) in November.
I understand that there's not many dive operations there and was wondering if anybody can make some recommendations.
I know "Top Dive" is the biggest outfit on the Island, but I can't help feel I'll just be another head of cattle there.

Does anybody have any experience in Moorea with a smaller (yet skillful) outfit?
I don't mind setting up my own gear or even carrying a tank or two - I just want some good diving without fear of being left behind because someone gets confused when they have to count about 18 divers on a boat.

TIA !

I dove with Top Dive in Rangiroa and Fakarava.....they were a great operation and not a cattle boat operation at all....do not know anything about the Moorea operation.

Sorry, I don't know about any Moorea diving either, but I did dive with Eleuthera Plongee http://www.dive-tahiti.com/index.php.en several years ago (scroll down the pages - the website's not too good as it appears nothing has popped up but all the info is at the bottom!). It was a good days diving and I felt very comfortable with them, not rushed and not out of my personal depths. I was however the only English speaking person on the boat - no issues, I just got my own private briefing!!

Thanks for the feedback (& the link).

When I emailed Top Dive, this is what they said about their operation:
  • 6 divers to a divemaster
  • Boats hold 22 people (3 groups of divers w/ divemasters + 1 captain)
  • They dive in groups (assuming the groups of 6)
  • Max bottom time = 45 minutes, regardless of no-dec times and/or air left.
- These are the reasons I thought it sounded like a cattle operation.

Travelnsj, was you experience similar to this? If not, I may consider diving with them after all. Thanks again!
