I think I wanted to go there because it really is a very unique place in a lot of ways. I've never met anyone personally (other than online) that has actually been there. There of course is all the history that is tied to that place (Darwin). It just seemed like a very interesting place to visit. Of course there are plenty of other "interesting" places to visit also.... Guess I'll just have to make do :-)

I enjoyed diving the Galapagos and was one of the lucky people to get there in June this year right before they changed the rules. Saw whale sharks, hammerheads, and galapagos sharks. The hammerheads at Wolf are not to be believed but I've heard that Cocos is just as good for the hammerheads.

Hey Scott you went at the wrong time of the year so quit your cry babying. Besides wolf & darwin I had some great dives at Cousins Rock as well where I saw a squandron of eagle rays and numerous seahorses and sea lions not to mention a few octopus too.

Cry Babying?????.....You go spend 8k++....get seasick...see crap...cold waters...washing machine currents....poor vis....and you only have 3 out of 15 dives that were memorable....I could of gone to Palau 3 times for that...Tawalli 2 times....Cozumel 5 times.....I'll cry all I want!....besides the only picture of WhaleShark you got was fuzzy!.....LOL

Ahhh...the wonder of FF miles....for 10 days of diving 2 to 3 tanks a day....staying at the West Plaza...dinner at Kramers and Bottom time grill...then once or twice at the Taj or Dragon Tei....usually 2 to 2.5K....and one hell of a lot better diving than Galapagos!

yeah but you are using FF miles so that isn't a fair comparision but I agree I'd rather dive Palau then the Galapagos even if it was the same amount of money.

If you were to fly economy to Palau...I've seen tickets as low as $1750...usually around 2k and it is not the Island hopper flight....so OK Palau twice for the price of Galapagos....and you get everything from Sharks to Manderian fish in Palau...plus 82 degree water
