need Denarau/Fiji advice

We're headed to Fiji in a few weeks and haven't had time to do much research. Google searches come up with poo. We're staying at the Westin Denarau and could use your advice on a dive operator. We're fairly decent divers and would prefer to avoid trips that focus more on the "experience" (read "day on the beach") than the diving. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Of course you can use your regs there! I've been to Fiji twice, different islands same dive operator and the thought of needing a different din never even entered my mind.

Where exactly is the place you're staying at... main island or are you flying into nadi and then going someplace else?

there are quite a few good operators on most of the different islands... can't understand why you were unable to find anything.

Fiji Diving

Hi there,
Being located down this end of the world, I have been to Fiji 5 times. Have snorkelled there a heap of times and only had the chance to dive there on one trip - for about 14 dives. There are a load of good dive operators all over Fiji, ranging from small operators at flashy resorts to what are essentially "Dive Islands" where the whole operation revolves around the dive centre.
Regs are no problem with any operator there that I have been involved with, and really the degree of diving "remoteness" or experience is only limited by your budget. Generally, much of the diving around Nadi area is pretty much resort style with plenty of people of all levels of experience tramping through fairly average sites. Many of the islands, by comparison, look after their sites, their staff, and their guests in such a way that you are left feeling as if it is "all about you" !! Again, cost will govern what you get. Really is worth spending a little more to get a lot more if you can.
Let me know how it goes, I'm looking forward to getting back there in the next 12 months or so.
Good luck with it all.

Cheers,

Greg

I have been to Kadavu (one of the southern Fiji islands) and the Al80s that we used had the standard yoke fitting. I have not been to the resort you mentioned, but I would suspect that even if they use the DIN fitting, they would have adaptors available due to the volume of business from the States.

Have fun.
