Siapan

I'm on a ship stationed in Japan the ship will be leaving soon and it looks like we might have a few days in Siapan. I'm looking for a dive tour company to recomend to the ship for when we pull into Siapan. Does any one have ideas? I believe we should have about 10 divers if I can get a good price. Some of the junior saliors can't afford to spend alot. Thanks for any help you can give.

Just got back from there yesterday. Speedy Turtle is a great shop. Give them a try.

I dove Saipan 2 years ago, and will go back.

We used All American Divers. Dive with Dive Saipan!!

Their site is mostly Korean (catering to the Korean tourists) but they speak the Englishee. Prices are good, anyway, better than the places that cater to Japanese tourists.

Speedy Tertle has an English speaking guide. I dove with Eric there a few years ago. He's still there, I hear, and a pretty cool guy (maybe even 5513 poster above!). He set up some nice dives for me.
Your choices on Saipan are limited unless you speak Japanese, Korean, or maybe Chinese. Apparently All American can help you out as well. There are over 40 shops on the island (which takes about 25minutes to drive across on the roads), but as far as I know for English-speaking shops those are your two choices. You could try Seashore Diving Office as well. It's a Japanese shop but a couple of the guides can speak pretty good English. Their service is impeccable and prices reasonable. You'd do well to contact whoever you want to work with in advance. When I dove with Speedy, they had only three guides working so if you are talking about a slew of divers, you might run into trouble accomdating them all. If you decide to contact Seashore, keep your English simple and use the phone.

Speedytertle Dive Shop: Saipan's Premiere Dive Shop

I hope you can get a chance to dive. Saipan is really a wonderful place for it.

FYI

Hey guys,
I realize this is an old post but I think I'd better post anyway.

(RikRaeder, it's me Riverserf - Brad - from Scubaboard.)

I'm a PADI Instructor and dive guide on Saipan. Eric at Speedy Tertle is a great guide, he's right. However, Dive Saipan is, in my opinion, the best shop to use for gear rental...they're cheaper and it's the most serious dive service center on the island. All the American locals use that shop. I honestly don't know of any that use Speedy Tertle anymore. Infrequent hours seemed to turn locals off more than anything. You'd go there to get tanks filled and they'd often be closed in the middle of the day. As one of their former DM's told me, the owners get so many Russian tour groups they don't care if they ever get another American customer.

Mr. Lee at Dive Saipan speaks great English and his wife is Filipino so there's no chance you'll have any trouble there.

My own website and blog list info about diving here in Saipan. Check them out and send me any questions you might have. Whichever shop you decide to use, you will have a great dive vacation here...the diving is phenomenal.

Here's another plug for Dive Saipan. I was there earlier this year and a local friend of mine introduced me. Dirt cheap rentals and a great place all around. You have to be a local to rent from them, but they have a few great dive masters connected to them, so that's no problem. Besides, you don't want to be diving in a new location without a local diver to show you around. I had nothing but great experiences with these guys and the dive masters!
