Possible new dive site.

Just saw the story on MSNBC about the sinkhole swallowing up daisetta tx. What caught my attention is it is already filling up with water. Looks to be 30 or so deep allergy. Might be an interesting spot if things continue to sink. |

I figured it would take at least a few months or more. Actually I was thinking that other than maby being able to do quarry type dives there that there may be a cave entrance either there or near by. Its the only thing I can think of to cause a sink that big, the whole time I lived in western pa I never heard of a sink like that being caused by a mine. So its gots to be a cave of some kind. Now the real question is will it be completly filled in after this or not.

Possible New Dive Site??
I don't live too far from Daisetta... This area is full of saltdomes that have been here from eons ago. Daisetta was a big oil town and I believe the saltdomes were used for oil storage. The water in the sinkhole now is grey water. Nasty stuff. It may fill up but it will probably be like diving blind. There is alot of concrete around one side of it that could fall off in chunks if you're not carefull. And it will probably have oil and stuff in it from the trucks , tractors, storage tanks, and power transformers that have fell in it. Unless they do some serious environmental clean up I wouldn't dive in it.
