Myrtle Beach Dive Report

We dove on the 'City of Richmond' last Wensday with Express Water Sports out of Merrills Inlet. This was my first trip with them, as I usually dive with Coastal Scuba when I'm in the area. I think they run a fine operation and their new boat (46 footer) is veeeerryy nice.

Located of the South Carolina coast about 25-30 miles, the 'City of Richmond' lies in about 50fsw and substantial current in places.

There were several groupers hanging about, a school of very pretty angel fish, and a 'cuda' that kept its eyes on us. Vis was in the 35-50' range and temp was in mid to high 70's.

With the 4 hour ride out there and back, I doubt I'll do this site again any time soon. It was worth one trip just to see it once though.

We jumped some waves pretty hard, but nothing to worry about too much. However, I had an issue with doing the wrong thing, at the wrong time.

I stood up and then slammed back down on my mask case,,with my 4th point of contact. The case was a total loss and left a mark on me.

If you ride with these guys to any dive sites, bring a small cooler with food!
