We have recently been to the Philadelphia & Lochlow quarries and it was great! Planning on the Pelham quarry mid August

Who has other ideas that's actually in the state?
What's the visibilty at Clarke Hill Lake on a good day? I went to school in Augusta in the 80's and used to visit the lake, but this was long before I started diving. I don't remember it being a very clear water lake, but I'm not sure. Was the airplane placed there, or was it an actual wreck?

If you are in the southeastern area, there is a LDS named Diver's Den. They also run a dive boat out of cumberland island area. I went out with them on Saturday, and we found a couple spots with good vis and a bunch of fish. I actually shot my first AJ(around 20lbs). I had very good time, and would highly recommend them. Their website is Diver’s Den Georgia|Full-Service Dive Shop, PADI Certification, Local Charters and Chris is the guy you want to talk to.

I checked out their website, and it looks like it might be fun. Did you do the 3-tank dive charter. I'd consider going down on a Friday night and diving Sat/Sun with my son. Can you tell me more about what you saw on your dives. How late do you finish up on a 3 tank dive? How are the currents there? How was the water temp and what suit did you wear there in November?

Thanks for any info!

Every time I've been to Clake Hill the water has been a rather disgusting brown color. I can't imagine the visibility is all that great, but there's a group that dives there pretty much every weekend. Apparently it's a good place to practice nitrox and deep dives. No idea on whether the plane was placed or if it was an accident. I can't imagine, though, why they'd put it there.

There's some info about Clarke Hill and the Savanah River at Neptune Dive and Ski's website (Neptune is Augusta's only dive shop, as far as I know):Neptune Dive and Ski - Local Dive Sites

I did do the 3-tank charter. Like I said Chris is the person you want to talk to (I guess you could talk to Justin as well). First couple dives we only had around 10-15 ft of vis, but lots of grouper, snapper, barracuda, sheepshead, and amberjacks. Last dive vis was around 25-30ft and loads of fish including a couple big cobia, think someone said they saw a lionfish as well. We ended up back at the dock around 530ish. The water temp was around 65-67F. I personally wore a 3mil wetsuit only because the 5 mil I had ordered had not came in. It was a little chilly, but I was really excited so I didn't really feel it. I wish we could have stayed out more, like I said, it was well worth the time and money.

Thanks Ben. My only suit is a 3/4 so I didn't know if that would cut it this time of year or not. Should probably go soon though.

If you find out more info on a charter please post it. I may want to get on it.

This is the link for the charter info:

Three-Tank Dives

I was looking at the weekend of 11/29, but then I remembered my daughter's B-day is Sunday. I'll have to look further down the calendar.
