The local dive shop in middle GA says if I wanted to dive, I'd have to go to Florida. I know that's not completely true. I know there's Grey's Reef, which is a long boat ride and good vis only a few months of the year. There's Clarke Hill Lake with the airplane wreck to explore and Lake Juliette is clear and DEEP. Who has other ideas that's actually in the state?

There is a Scuba Park, called Dive Haven - it's about 1.5 hour north of Atlanta. Here is the website: Dive Haven Georgia Atlanta Area Quarry Scuba Diving Certification and Instruction White Georgia www.divehavenga.com

My parents live on the coast in GA and they have a boat that occasionally go to Cumberland Island, but never realize that there is treasure dives. What do you/divers find? |

Savannah River. I used to live and dive in Augusta, GA. You already mentioned Clark Hill. You can also dive the Savannah River. It's a fun little dive. Not too deep, but it is a drift dive.
I believe there's a lake near Atlanta where they dive also, but I can't remember the name of that lake. |

Is there anywhere to dive there where you wouldn't have to dodge all the boats? |

Just a few minutes north of Georgia (in Tenn), there's Loch Low-Minn LOCHLOWMINN MAIN PAGE - Great quarry, with lots of bottom sights, Paddlefish, etc.; West of Ga., in Pelham, Al, is Blue Water - another great quarry with lots of amenities, and the water is true to its name... Alabama Blue Water Adventures

Just north of Loch-Low is the Philadelpha quarry in Philadelphia tennessee. Its a great little quarry. Mostly natural and cheap. $10 entry fee (as of about 2 weeks ago). Just do a google of philadelphia quarry and you should get a link. I believe its exit 68 off of i-75, but i can't remember for sure.
The website also says they don't have any air, however they do have air now (not nitrox). Also they only take cash. |
