Refresher course?
I haven't been diving in a couple of years and now am trying to get back into it... I've been asking around about refresher courses and was told today that i could just practice and go over the stuff with a very experienced diver (like a DM) instead of spending almost $200.... so my question is... once I get my gear should I just take a refresher course or should i look for a DM that doesn't mind going over and working with me a little bit... I was even told that i could just do a dive (the dive quest) at Disneys Epcot that the DMs are all over you to make sure you are doing everything right... this was from someone that works at the living seas and used to work as one of the divers (not sure if he was a DM or not)...

I think you will be amazed at how fast everything comes back - especially if just 2 years. I've taken folks into the pool after 10 years, and in a matter of 10 minutes, they look like they haven't missed a beat. If you have someone that will work with you a bit and make sure you're comfortable again - that is really all that matters.

Nevermind, I see you're in Central FL. I now see why you would mention DiveQuest.
I think you would want to fine tune your skills before going on a dive such as that one. You only get 30-35 minutes in the tank and it would be a shame to spend it dealing with buoyancy and such. Find a local shop and do a refresher if you can't find someone to practice with you in a pool.

I took a refresher course for $75. I did all the pool work and got some one on one time with the instructor. There were a lot of things I forgot. It was really nice taking the refresher again. At worst it will help build your confidence before you are out there on your own. |

Yeah I agree $200 seems to high for just a refresher course.
I was away from diving for like 8 years and it is true after a few min it will all come back to you. Your first dive back you might want to stick with something not that tough just to get the rust off.
