dive op for cert class.

I am looking for a good place to do my ow cert class there will be two of us. Where staying in largo so would like to be around the tampa area. We planned on using tildens in the key but not sure it is worth the drive from tampa everyday for 5 days. If i could find a rv park down there or a hotel that lets you have pets.
I would be good to go

Can you get certified at Home by a Local Dive Shop and then when you go to Fl you can do dives just to enjoy diving????

That was the plan. But i a getting surgery some time in the next month or so and will not be able to do it for another month or two at the earlyest. so that like nov. Nov in the water here is a no no. I could do a private lesson here but it would cost more.

Just FYI that most (not all) shops will do the class portion only and then you can do the dive portion of the course at a different destination with a different operation. That way you spend a little less time on your vacation going through classes... Just something else to consider... It is called a Referal...

Are you going to Florida for a short vacation or will you be there for some time (business)?

If only for a short time, I would do all the class work locally and then just have to do the dives (as Phil said, this is a Referral and done all the time). You don't want to waste your time on vacation doing a class.....vacations are for diving (although, my wife things otherwise).

you can also look at doing the book work and reviews on line now and just do the pool work and open water dives then saves time in the classroom and gets you in the water faster
