I see that there is alot of cave diving in this area but is there any open water diving?
I will be camping at vortex spring the second weekend in Nov. and would like some more options other then vortex and morrison springs. We will be there thurs.- sun. so I figure we can dive vortex thursday and maybe friday in the AM then go check out morrison springs.
Are there any places to dive that will be closer then driving to the gulf?

Closer than the gulf? From Morrison/Vortex, you're only 45 minutes away from some good diving in Panama City. So no, unless you bring a kayak and dive cypress, nothing is closer than the gulf.

We are both new divers so i'm thinking we can dive vortex just to go over some skills and then morisson.
Depending on the weather we may try and book a boat trip out of panama city then make another dive in the springs to clean the gear.
