Urban Legend and the fuel industry

Anybody else remember the story about somebody inventing a carburator that would let your car run on water. Supposedly the technology was bought up by the oil industry and the inventor was hushed up.
Check this out.

A Dodge Dakota got 9.4MPG at 55mph on a Dyno? BS!!!

There's no way that's possible. That would mean in real world conditions it would be getting only a few miles to the gallon. The post "Hyrdo 4000" install of 26 is a more reasonable number for a stock Dakota.

I had to double check the "News Station". I figured it was a fake news story made by the same company. I can't believe it's an actual station

It would be really frigg'n cool if it works!

If it does and I see a track record with results I would have no problem purchasing. Let's hope this or something can get the noose of fossil fuels off our necks!

you get what you pay for, bs. but this is what the country needs to start making fuel eff cars. it is going to hurt in the short run but might be better for us all in the long run. remember europe is paying 6 to 8 bucks a gallon so we still have it pretty cheap, but i am buying a vespa scooter 70 miles to the gallon and 60 mph

Wter injection can work, a little.

The way it works is first you re-adjust the carb for a very, very lean mixture. This causes a lot of "pinging" and over heat and if left alone would melt a hole through the piston. So to prevent this you add water in liquid form it turns to vapor and abosrbs some heat. The engine, over all is MUCH less powerful and because it is, uses less gas

A much better and cheap way to get the same effect is to simply make the engine smaller

An even cheaper way to save gas is to get a job closer to where you live. I did that and cut my use of gas to a quarter of what it was. I think with transportation prices going up many people will deside the long commutes are just not worth it. Iin the past people put up with the long cummute becase far-away housing was cheaper then close-in housing but now soon to be $5/gal gas price is making far-away housing a lot more expensive. We might even see realestate prices rise in the central cities

If this were verifiably true (I'm not saying it isn't) then I wouldn't see why they don't MANDATE it to be standard on new vehicles. If done on a country wide scale I can see how it would make the USA a better place. Its the same with that "Tornado" thing that you put into your ?intake?. I know nothing about engines but I've seen it advertised in infomercials. If it gave REAL, ACTUAL results then the demand would make them a standard item. But they are not, and so that is what makes me leary.

All the major motorcycle companies also make 600cc scooters now too. You still have to get your class M cert, but they're a lot easier to handle in rush hour traffic and still can comfortably do highway speeds. I really really miss my Honda Silverwing.
