Border Patrol Hiring
I thought some of you guys might be interested in this info.
A friend of mine works for the Border Patrol. He said that they have streamlined the process. The entire hiring process takes three days (you have to go to a site, and go through the testing, physical, background check, PT test, interview, and polygraph). You have to be 18, and have no felony convictions. If you have had a DUI arrest, then you cannot work in Texas (but you could go to another state). If you are willing to work anywhere in the US, you can be employed, and at the academy within 2 weeks. The website is CBP.gov - home page And...they have scuba teams. |

Out here in AZ those poor guys get shot at regularly and in most cases they are not allow to shoot back.
Considering that little tidbit it's real poor pay for risky work. The reason they streamlined the hiring process is to many people wised up to how bad it is and won't take the jobs.

a GS-5 is only like $28,900 a year (step 1). pretty low starting pay for someone with a 4 year degree compared to other competitive job salaries. |
