Ordering stuff online

I don't know about everyone else, but this crap just pisses me off. Free shipping, but with a $11.75 "Handling" charge???? WTF is "Handling"????
Don't they pay their warehouse people by the hour to pack this **** up and ship it? What kind of BS is this? Another kudo to ST for not charging "handling" charges. It honestly insults my intelligence, and this is a company I've ordered THOUSANDS of dollars worth of parts from over the last 20 years. After this order, they'll not get any more of my business. Screw that.
I copied and pasted this from my bill, and I hope nobody ever buys anything from these folks. Talk about price gouging.

I agree. Lame.

Free shipping means free. I may or may not pay tax, I understand, but there shouldn't be any more costs.

Reminds me of my pet peeve: the gratuity tacked onto a restaurant bill if you have over X number of people in the group. According to Webster's, a gratuity is "something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service". It's not a gratuity, it's a service charge, and an unfair one at that.

The restaurant is afraid somebody might stiff a server and not tip, so they gouge the customer with this. If the service is POOR, then no tip. Don't charge me a service charge because the management is understaffed for this number of people.

Oh man, don't even get me started on the mandatory gratuity thing in restaurants.
Ya know, this whole thing revolves around creative marketing. If you can make some dumbass feel like they're getting a bargain, then all's good. The problem with that is that there are many of us who aren't dumbasses.

I agree. I hate the concept since it gives the server NO incentive to work for their tip. That said, it is not really "mandatory". I have never had the situation that management stood behind the charge if service was bad enough that I needed to complain about it. I that case they have always gone along with a reduction of the "mandatory gratuity", and in most cases have thrown in a couple of free appetizers or deserts because I was unhappy.

Amazon Prime - free 2 day shipping, no minimum order size, no handling fee.

I can't tell you how much stuff I buy that way instead of saving up for a bigger order somewhere else. Too bad they don't carry everything in the world, but they're getting closer.

I always want my bill separate. And I tip according to the service received.
I am not afraid to throw a royal b*tch fit to management. If I don't get my way.
Sorry, to whomever doesn't like it!
