Vehicle Set up.

Anyone set up there vehicles just for diving? I am looking to set up my jeep just for that in hopes to make it easier to get ready and to safely store these my dive gear. Some photos would be great. Thanks.

I am not sure exactly how far you want to take this, but I have seen quite a selection of modifications. I would personally recommend doing things that are reversable. For ex. a place to hang gear that can be removed for your trip. I have done most of my diving out of a small vehicle, and plastic boxes work absolutely great for storing my gear. I believe they are the heavy ones you ind in the automotive section with two latches on either side.

Hope that helps...

What Model Jeep? I am interested. I went from a Pickup to a 7 passenger SUV. I now have a wrangler rag top. So far all I have done is get rid of the rear seats. I can get 2 sets of gear including 4 bottles. Just can't lock it for the apres dive festivities.
Just hose it out at the end of the day.

I find a pickup with a hard bed cover to be a great dive vehicle.
Plenty of room for all the extras.
I just decided I also want a small boat to dive off of at the lake. I took advantage of the end of year sales to move to a larger pickup with the capacity to tow. My little 4 cylinder Tacoma just wasn't going to do it.
I picked up a Titan king cab plenty of room for gear and the family. It's Red and will probably end up with a dive flag painted on the cover.

I suppose you could mount tank holders right to the floor. And adding things like hangers and waterproof flooring where the gear is.

I experimented with PVC tank racks that I could put in and take out of the car. They worked well. But, they took up too much room. My latest setup is made of plywood (scrap from dumpster diving!). I made it with sides and a front lip so that it would "hold water". That way I do not have a bunch of salt water rusting out my car. I purchased 2 rollcontrol tracks and 5 roll control folding tank brackets. When not being used for tanks I just fold the brackets out of the way. I added a rubber mat from Lowes so that my equipment could drain.

Plywood - Free
1 pint spar varnish - $5
2 Roll Control tracks - $40 ($20 ea)
6 Roll Control Folding Brackets - $60 ($20 per pair)
1 Rubber Mat - $20
1 pk of brass screws - $3

I have a Jeep Wrangler soft top too & I think I'm gonna do the No Misses system... My bro-in-law is a master at carpentry (I'm no slouch either), so with his help it should be a matter of a couple hours... That will be perfect for the Wrangler...

No Misses, that setup freaking rocks. I wish I saw this when I still had the Jeep.
