Your job and your favorite "perk"

Seeing another thread with a similar topic gave me an idea for this thread. What do you do for a living, and what is your favorite "perk" about the job.

I'm an active duty Marine. One of my favorite perks is that ocassionally, I get to shoot to earn a paycheck. When I go to the range, whether it's the rifle range, pistol range, or whatever, I get paid to shoot free ammo.

In the past, this has extended to shooting full-autos, several times from moving helos.

Another perk is that several times in my career, I've gotten the chance to blow things up. Munitions that could no longer serve their intended purposes are often disposed of by detonating.

These are some of the "off the wall" things that I get to do, occasionally, that make it fun.

No sweat, they pay us too

Just kidding.

It's an honor to serve. This country has given me many opportunities. It's my way of repaying that.

Wow definitely nothing in my job tops those perks. Some days I really wish I could blow stuff up though.

The best perk of my job is uhhhhhhhhhhhh ummmmmm uhhhhhhhhhh well nothing really besides that my checks fund my diving and I do get a bonus which is always sweet.

Being a former Marine I had a lot of the same perks... I espically enjoyed shooting the .50 cal out of the 53's.

I now work for a video production company and I have to say that the biggest perk is that while my wife is in the hospital right now I get to stay there all day with her and work on my laptop. I just go into my office every few days to pick up a new project and to work on things that I cannot do on my laptop. When I do have to go in, I go in at night (I am there right now) so that I can be at the hospital when the Dr.'s are coming in and out, and to keep my wife company. It has really meant a lot to me and to her to be able to work this way...

My best gun-run was about 10 years ago. Shot the new (it was new then) M240 out of a UH-1 on Camp Geiger. Nothing like full auto 7.62!!!!!!

Having the kind of flexibility you have would definitely be a perk, although after 18 years of having a structured environment, I wouldn't know how to act without a show time in the morning!

I get to plant bombs and then go have my dog find them. Ok they aren't real bombs for the fact that they are missing a detonator, but everything else is real.

I got to shoot the minigun out of the UH-1 a few times and loved seeign the rounds streaming down range and the brass flying all over the place, but there is something about the THUMP, THUMP, THUMP of the .50 that really got my blood pumping... That is the stuff I miss about the corps. I had lots of good times...

I've shot the .50 out of a Phrog a few times, and the minigun off a ground trainer (got to shoot about a thousand rounds that day), but hanging out the door on the Huey with the M240 was awesome!!
On the boat once, I got to shoot a silenced MP5 that the Seals were shooting. That was cool, too.
