Look forward to this more than Christmas. Speaking of Christmas or Halloween. (what ever)

Last year my Mom was over my house handing out candy because on my street we also distribute adult beverages to the Moms and Dads with the kids.
A little boy, about 8 or 9, came to the door by himself, dressed as a pirate. His parents were down the end of the walk chatting with some of the neighbors.
Right away I knew he had a speech impediment when he said "BICKLEBEET" instead of "trick or treat." My mom of course says "I am sorry what did you say? Pickled beets?" The kid is a little frustrated and puffs his chest and says once more "BICKLE-BEET". My mom finally gets it says "oh, trick or treat!"

My mother can never leave well enough alone and asks the kid "well what are you supposed to be?" Obviousely he is a pirate. Got the patch, the turned up hat with Jolly Roger. But the kid is cool and says "I'm a BAWIT". My mother of course does not get it and says "what?". The kid is quite frustrated now and takes a big breath, clenches his fists, screws up his face and says "I AM A BAWIT!"

My mom finally get's and say's "oh, a pirate!" Of course, as I said, she can't leave well enough alone and says to the kid "If you are pirate, where are your buccaneers?"
Then, the kid, with a straight face removed his cap and very calmly said " 'ere are my buckin' ears lady, under my buckin' hat."

Mom emptied the candy bowl int the kid's sack.

You/re not a real Pirate unless you have the books!!

International Talk Like A Pirate Day - Our Books

... and know how it all started ....

International Talk Like A Pirate Day - How It All Began

And my FAVORITE ....

Top Ten Pickup lines for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day

10 . Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?
9. Have ya ever met a man with a real yardarm?
8. Come on up and see me urchins.
7. Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.
6. I'd love to drop anchor in your lagoon.
5. Pardon me, but would ya mind if fired me cannon through your porthole?
4. How'd you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?
3. Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.
2. Well blow me down?
And the number one pickup line for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day is …
1. Prepare to be boarded.

Bonus pickup lines (when the ones above don't work, as they often won't)

They don’t call me Long John because my head is so big.
You’re drinking a Salty Dog? How’d you like to try the real thing?
Wanna shiver me timbers?
I’ve sailed the seven seas, and you’re the sleekest schooner I’ve ever sighted.
Brwaack! Polly want a cracker? … Oh, wait. That’s for Talk Like a PARROT Day.
That’s the finest pirate booty I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Let's get together and haul some keel.
That’s some treasure chest you’ve got there.
