Your current reading list...
This is probably an old subject, but I'm always curious about what folks are reading. I ride the bus and it takes a lot of self-control for me to not peak at the book in the hands of the rider next to me (but I don't...usually).
So, your last book, your current book and your next book: Last Book: "The Ionian Mission", Patrick O'brian. I think this is the seventh installment in what is arguably the best series of novels depicting life on the high seas of the late 18th Century available today. Current book: "Guns, Germs, and Steel", Jared Diamond. A history of the development of world culture for the last 13,000 years. Much less boring than it sounds. Also current (I read to each of my boys, 13 and 15): "The Golden Buddha" (15yr. old) , Clive Cussler and "Black Wind", Clive Cussler (13yr. old) Next book: For me, either the next book in Robert Jordan's "Eye of the World" sci-fi fantasy series or the "Resolute", the account of the search for the northwest passage. For the boys, the older one will start one of the Cussler, "Sea Hunter" nonfiction books and the younger one will pick out another Cussler Dirk Pitt or "Oregon Files" novel. What is everyone else reading? |

Speaking of Clive Cussler I have read all of his books, well except the two non fictional ones I think the tally comes out to like 30 books or so.
As of now, I am reading some of the Robert Ludlum's Bourne series books, acctually written by Eric Van Lutzber I think is his name, the bourne sanction, and 2 others

My last book was "Bones"-can't remember who it was written by-got it out of the paperback section of our public library (they don't really check these out-you just bring them back sooner or later and I've passed it on to my sister)-it was a good fast read. Now I'm reading "the host" by Stephenie Meyer-can't decide yet if it is too much like the Body Snatchers. The next book....never know till I go to the library. I have a list but I like to browse the new book section and see what catches my eye. I hate to say it but I definitely judge a book by it's cover-that has to get me first before I look at the synopsis.

I'm reading The New Destroyer right now and awaiting the next book Casca. The author emails me when he finishes a new Casca book and I order it direct from him. It takes a bit to get used to the English method of speaking. It really is different than our method when it comes to the written word.

I'm mostly a nonfiction reader... currently working through some career oriented stuff like 'Juran's Quality Handbook' and 'Storage Area Networks for Dummies'. 'Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess' is my current bathroom reader, and I read 'Tiggers Don't Climb Trees' to my daughter last night. For enjoyment reading, I'm having fun with 'Electronic Circuits for the Evil Genius'.

Just finished up The Last Dive by Bernie Chowdhury. Not a bad book, but I was surprised how much of the book was actually about the author as opposed to the Rouses, but not a bad book.
Just prior to that, finished up the book Ramage by Dudley Pope. It's the first in a series of books about a young Lieutenant in the British Navy during their war with Napolean. Really enjoyed it. |

I've been trying to get to the "Last Dive", but keep putting it off. I have Gary Gentile's "expose" of Shadowdivers" but he seems so bitter, I just read a bit, then put it down. Right or wrong, he ought to get over it. (I met him last year and he seemed like a nice guy, but he did seem to resent the fame generated by 'Shadow Divers.' His books on tech and wreck diving are pretty good introductions to the subjects, btw. Regarding Pope's book, I will check that one out. Have you read O'Brian?
