Question Biden vs Palin VP Debate

This thread goes along with Thagar's. It just adds a poll.

In you opinion, who "won" the debate? Who was more articulate? Who got flustered? Who was confident? Who dodged the question? Who got the "zinger" in? Who had the facts at their finger-tips? Who was better prepared? Who was "Presidential"?

Palin won but I wouldn't say she knockeded it out of the park. Biden lied several times though stating Obama didn't say something when he actually did. I follow politics pretty close and heard Obama make the statements that Biden stated he never said. It was good debate.

"You betcha", "a shout out to my brother", "straight up", "doggone it", ""Hey can I call you Joe?"

Sorry, but this kind of "humor?" might work at the local level, not in the White House. Palin might have rebounded from her Couric interviews, but to me she just demonstrated that she really is not prepared for high office. Yes we need change in Washington, but street talk is definitely not the way to get it done.

I'm not a Joe Biden fan either, but as far as who won the debate, I suppose it depends on how you measure it; likeability, substance, posure, demeanor.

On another note, I believe Gwen Ifill was fair, direct, and unbiased throughout.

I was impressed by Palin, and am a McCain supporter, but I would not go as far as to say that Palin won the debate, I would say it was sort of a tie. Biden is much more expirinced and it showed, he had specific examples and not just generalizations. The thing against him is I feel he lied on several occastions. Palin I feel was more upfron and direct, and also more likable, but she strayed from the topic more than did Biden, or just didnt cover it as well.

seems to me Biden's responses were grounded in facts...whereas Palin spewed more of the rhetoric of fear (with regards to foreign policy and this financial crisis)...and how many times could she work in the word "Americans"....I just feel that it's more of that republican tactic that if you're not with us, you're unamerican.

And then there were all her little buzzwords....Joe Sixpack, Hockey Moms, Mavericks....such nonsense...

she didn't make a complete a$$ of herself as she has previously, but she's out of her league.

I don't know if I'd agree that Biden "lied", but he did spin facts and present them in a way that supported the platform he and Obama are running on. Palin on the other hand just talked in circular colloquialisms, used "playground tactics", and seemed not to know enough facts to be able to spin them one way or the other.

I was on the fence yesterday. Now, I question McCain's judgement for even considering Sarah Palin after a formal vetting. The thought of her "leading the senate" is unsettling. The thought of her in the oval office is downright terrifying.

It's hard to believe ehat Biden is saying, being that he's done a 180 on just about everything he said 6-8 months ago...

Gee, just awhile back he said Obama was not qualified to lead our Country and he supported Clinton...

They're all a bunch of stuffed lying suits...

Palin is refreshing, street talk or not... McCain/Palin is still the lessor of two evil's for me...

I do NOT want bigger Government... Period... The Democratic Party is way too close to Socialism for me...

SO I have to say Palin did better than I or just about anyone could have hoped in the debate last night. With that said "better than expected" is not the meter I want to use to choose my next VP and potentially P. Both She and Biden had there "fibs" and I am sure the fact checkers will be busy sorting out the "real" facts from the fiction of the rah rah debate rhetoric. I think they both accomplished what they set out to do in the debate and both handled themselves well.

I imagine Alaskans felt the same way about Palin after she ran on a "build the bridge" platform.

You expect anything else from politicians?

I don't find the possibility of incompetance in the executive branch particularly refreshing.

I agree. Both VP candidates had a lot of potential for train-wrecking. Neither did.
