Thumbs down The Bachelor

This should probably post in the Women's Forum. But for we men, therein be dragons.

What is the fascination and appeal of The Bachelor? My wife is hooked on this steaming POS. It was bad enough at one hour. This season, it's been two hours each Monday night. She has followed this so-called "series" since its inception several years ago.

I mean, do women REALLY consider contrived, back-stabbing, competitive, superficial, hurried-up relationship-seeking the least bit ROMANTIC? Is this love? Is this what true romance is about? If so, I want none of it.

There is a bright side. Each week, I have two hours to myself to enter the ScubaToys forum and peruse at leisure.

//end of rant...

Agreed, hate it, I prefer the Bachelorette!

Actually, there is one reality TV show that I am a complete sucker for...The Amazing Race. I want to go on it with my best friend Bubba. We would win.

It's kind of like watching an accident ... you just can't believe it's this bad, but you can't look away!! Besides, some of the cat fights are pretty funny!!

I much prefer Amazing Race .... I say we get Lulubelle signed up!! I think she'd kick some major butt!!

I am glad that I work on Monday nights, or I'd have to watch it with my wife.... (the show, NOT my wife)

I really like "The Real Housewives of Orange County" ......... However, "The Rock of Love" isn't bad, but pretty fake ... In more ways then one can count.....

AR is the only show I watch, in general I am not a TV fan AT ALL. I am fascinated by the places, how people interact with each other under stress, and how people navigate that with which they are unfamiliar and uncomfortable. It can be pretty funny. It has won an emmy twice. Bubba and I would probably be unmatchable as we already know and trust who is better at what. But alas, her family is too young still to leave for that long. Come on Kat, let's do it!

Rock of Love...oh yeah, she watched that crap too...both seasons. Another hour I had to myself.

The only "reality" show I ever watched faithfully was the first year of The Mole. In that show, the contestants weren't competing against each other. They could not "vote" each other off nor could they "not be offered a rose". At the end of each episode, all the contestants took a written test to determine how observant they were. The lowest score left the show. Objective, not subjective.

The Amazing Race looks interesting, but I think it competes against one of the other few shows we watch.

***Warning*** all these shows do is ruin life for us men. Do not watch them and do not allow your significant others watch them. Make the cable go out, cut the satellite cable, anything for the betterment of us guys who have to live or try to sleep with women who think this garbage is real.

it is a craptastic show....actually most all reality shows are....they give people with no acting ability nor talent the chance to be on tv and feign some sort of celebrity...

Bubba's family is too young, I, alas, am too old!! (Add to that I can't cope with heights, hate to fly, and am not a morning person - you would likely kill me by Day 2 or 3! )
