Playlist suggestions

So I know this has nothing to do with diving...but where else do I have a captive audience of people across age groups, genders (???), socioeconomic strata, and geographies?

I never listen to regular radio, just XM and my own stuff. So I can sometimes miss some great NEW music and I love to get introduced to new stuff. I'd rather have music than food.

So, what is your favorite album that came out last year? Old or new artist, any genre?

I'll start...

Raising Sand, Allison Krauss and Robert Plant

I thought Raising Sand was pure genius. What an unlikely combo, but nicely done.
Otherwise, not much new stuff that turns me on.


(edit: oh and yes, music is related to diving. At Mermet Springs, they play music under water. The first time I experienced it, I was hooked)

Okay - hijack and rant in progress.

I AM SO MAD AT XM/Sirius!

First, they take away Flight 26. Now, I find out they are raising the monthly rate and making you take a long-term commitment plan in order to listen online.

So, um, I think I will be $36 richer every 3 months when I cancel my subscription.

I love XM because of the commercial free radio - but, I can get commercial free with my MP3 player.

bye bye XM.

As to your music choice - I'm a modern post-grunge kinda girl, but very eclectic. Some of the artists on my MP3 player include:

I listen to an alternative rock station (BUZZ 103.1). Sunday mornings they do "BUZZ Lite". All accoustic Alternative. Big part of my weekend.

You guys so didn't read my post...I was looking for your favorite new music/artists/albums from the last 12 months.

I have 20MB of great music on my IPOD, needed some newer stuff to add in.

I have a good bit of your list gnats...well done.

SL, I can't access your local radio station, but care to name any artists or new albums and I am game to listen.

Was hoping to discover the top few albums/new artists from the last year or so that I missed.

Probably some older things in these lists that I missed anyway. Last few years have missed a lot of things going on in the world.

I bet 1/3 of what is currently on my IPOD is from folks who have already crossed over...

Are there new artists? Hahahaha - sorry, I shouldn't have posted - my music usually runs 12 months behind. Especially with the MP3. I'll go months listening only to the MP3 and then hear a song on the radio and I'm like, who the heck is that?
