Be sure to check your kids homework

When asked to draw a picture of why she wanted to grow up to be like her Mom, this is what the 2nd grader drew:

This is the letter her Mom sent to her teacher:

Dear Mrs. Jones,
I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith

I wished I could have checked my son's SCHOOL work one day... A few years ago during parent teacher conferences, my son's teacher said I needed to read a STORY my son wrote... The teacher asked the kids to answer the question, "What's is something you have heard that made you think, WOW?"

My son's STORY was, "When my Dad said he drank 23 cans of beer at a party one time."

I really don't remember ever discussing alcohol drinking with my son.....Oh well, I must have been drunk....

A few years ago our son's teacher told us in conference that he "cracked her up" in class the first day of school. The kids were asked to write about what they did over the summer.

She said that right after they started righting, he raised his hand.

"Miss Lucich? How do you spell virgin?"

"What?"
"Virgin. I need to spell it. Is it with a capital?"
Spelled it.
"Miss Lucich? How do you spell margarita?"

She said she didn't know us, but worried about what our kid was writing.

She looked at his paper.

"This summer, we went camping in Florida and daddy made us virgin margaritas."

She also admitted that he told her that his regular Saturday night "job" was to bring beers to daddy while he "got drunk in the spa."

A six pack will last me a month, but my kids assume that one beer and you are drunk.

When my step daughter was in elementary school, she participated in the DARE (Drug Awareness and Resistance Education) program. Part of that program teaches that cigarettes and alcohol are to be avoided as well.

My wife and I were smokers back then. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise to later find out that the kid told the teacher that her mother was a drug addict!

Back in the dawn of time there was a show (Art Linkletter?) where the MC would get some of his best answer by asking kids "What did your parents tell you NOT to talk about when we talked?" You could see the horror in the parents' faces as 6yr old Johnny laid it out on national TV.

The program was The Art Linkletter Show and the segment was Kids Say The Darndest Things.

//I think I just dated myself.

I have no kids, so I got no worries. <LOL>

The picture in your signature (fire extinguisher behind locked door, in case it changes in the mad whirl of icon fun) reminds me of the time I was working OPS/Security at a Science Fiction convention. It was the Wednesday night before the convention really got started, just a few parties going on. We were running a couple of familiarization patrols, just to get the lay of the land, when my partner happened to check the fire extinguisher on one floor. Someone had replaced the extinguisher with a champagne bottle. Even though it was a full bottle (would have provided SOME liquid spray) you can imagine the uproar it caused. We reported it to the hotel security and then accompanied them on an inspection of every fire extinguisher in the hotel. There were 12 bottles in place of proper extinguishers. Our convention was following a group of Shriners or Football Fans or other rowdy types. No way of telling who did it but we wanted to make sure we did not get blamed (and billed!). Fun is fun but that crossed the line.
