Economic Stimulus

I'm tired of the politics and jaw jacking about the economy. I decided to do my part yesterday and bought a 52 inch LCD TV, HD Tivo, and BluRay player. The new TV makes my 11 year old 55 inch rear projection look awful!

There are some great deals out there, I'm sure glad I waited....just need some BluRay dive videos!

Well shucks... We want these people to sell big new TV's, and I want to help - so spend a ton on Scuba Gear, and then I'll go buy a new TV. See... I'm willing to help!

I walked into Best Buy and they had a great deal on the TV. I asked the manager if he would take an additional 10% off, next thing I know they are loading the TV in my truck!

Still looking for the Dive Portal DVD series...

And the great thing is your economic stimulus contribution should have worldwide impact.

Are any electronic entertainment systems made in the USA?

I know what you mean, my company is currently furloughing us to try and prevent another mass layoff, right before christmas they got rid off approx 200 workers and starting giving the rest of us 1-2 weeks off per month. With the auto and housing sector in the dumps, not much call for machining right now, the one plus I have going is I run 4 very, very large mills and 90% of the parts I machine have cycle times of 3 to 5 days.

I keep hoping and praying the university will do furloughs instead of layoffs, unemployment around here (and everywhere else I guess) is nuts!

Hope you get to keep your job too.

I have friends in the IT sector going through interesting times. EA laid off some workers, HP is considering a mid-summer shut down and several large institutions including Macy's parent company IT leaving the area. I am glad I work in the IT medical field. We don't really see slowdowns thankfully.

None of the employees at Best Buy are American citizens, neither are any of the drivers who deliver the products to the store. I don't think they even employ locals to run their ad campaigns, accounting, or purchasing. So most of money must have went to Japan.

My GMC Yukon, American all the way, was built in Mexico. You can't judge a products origin by the brand. Most American companies are outsourcing and many foreign products are being assembled, if not built here.
