Sorry Bert, mm_dm beat you by 6 hours: Innovations in Body Armor

Still, a great photo that the SP4 will not live down, no matter what rank he attains. It will definitely show up in a good number of photo displays.

I think it is fine.

A real man can get a way with it. Now if he had flutterd around ,considering changing before grabbing his kit and getting on the line, I would raise a flag.

Believe it or not, I have some crazy u-trou. When I was in college I had quite a rep on campus because of my under garments. (when I wore them which was mostly on dates. Otherwise I just went Al fresco under my jeans. I didn't do much laundry.) But wait.. No one cares. I am digressing.....

Post 9/11 my unit gets activated and we all get sent down to do pre-dep processing in some vietnam era barracks. If you ever saw FMJ, that's what these things looked like, big long bays with racks for 50 soldiers and two toilets. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but we were stoked to go into kill mode and didn't really care.

On the way to deploy, we get some new guys that transferred in from units all over the country and get this guy from the far northwest. He's a little granola but he had a hot wife and we just figured it was because he was from Oregon, (the unit was predominately Texan) so we welcomed him to the island so to speak.

First morning after he arrived, I wake up to see him walking through the bay. He's got a battery powered coffee mill in one hand and is wearing nothing but slippers. (The concrete floor, among other things, was a bit cold in the open barracks).

After a considerable ruckus, we weren't in the navy after all, he agreed to stow it in a banana hammock and we agreed not to throw him off the second floor balcony. He turned out to be a pretty cool guy, but the point of my story is this, had that been my unit in the photo, the only magazine publishing it would be in San Francisco.

God bless America.

If dude was enough of a coffee addict to have his own battery powered coffee grinder, he's my kind of dude! But, in my unit you didn't lay anything on the counter of the CP because we had too many people who would more than happily "mushroom stamp" it when you weren't looking. But then again, we all did go to a Navy school.
