The g/f thinks I have too many hobbys!

When I asked my g/f if she would like to learn to scuba dive she said yeah that sounds like fun! We decided to take up this sport together. Well i started looking at gear and I have bought a used BC and just the basic stuff to take our OW class. She tells me on the ride home from FL. I have too many hobbies and need to pick one I like to fish, hunt, play a little golf, ride 4 wheelers, shoot and collect rifles and pistols and now Scuba!
Does anyone else have problems like this? So much stuff you want to do but so little time? I'm just sitting at work bored(machinist)......I can see scuba toys is going to cause me problems!

That's an easy one, when you are into fishing, hunting, golf, 4 wheelers, rifles and pistols and Scuba and the girl says lose one... you lose the girl... Did you have to ask?!

Same here - Guns, cars, scuba, and photography all have me broke. Maybe we SHOULD get cheaper hobbies? I dunno, something involving a ball? the *brothas* across town seem to have great fun with that orange looking one....

Well larry I would get rid of her but she will go shooting from time to time and she agreed to do scuba with no problems she will also get muddy on the 4 wheeler as well. If she did say i have to get rid of one I would probly get rid of her though!

I never could play with that orange ball!

Get ehr to comprimise: Give up the golf, show her that hunting and fishing will put food on the table occasionally, The four-wheeler only needs gas occasionally so it's okay to keep around and since all the gun collection needs is a quarterly cleaning and a good safe, the shooting and collecting can go on the back burner for a while-you'll be spending the money on dive gear, but don't tell her that.

So all you really lose in the golf.

I was in the same situation, and I chose to give up hunting. Mostly because that was the hobby that got me out of bed at 3:30 in the morning several days a year, and I like to sleep. I don't miss the sleepy, cold mornings, but I do miss the fresh meat.

I also am into hunting fishing and camping the outdoorsy stuff. I also knew I would have a problem when the wife fond out the cost of scuba. So I just went to the closet and the 4 extra back packs became one less, the 15 flashlights became 2 less, so the old hobbies paid for the new one. Plus I made a little room in the closet to start putting scuba stuff. The wife never said a word about cost and actually felt bad I was selling off my stuff and wanted to give me extra money towards the class (I didn’t take it). May work for you also.

I gave up golf. I'm a decent golfer (9 handicap), but my blood pressure got better imediately. I'm too competitive for it. Every little mistake made me want to wrap a club around a tree. I knew I wasn't getting better at it than that without SERIOUS practice time. So, I gave it up. Still have my clubs for the occasional bachelor party though

Shooting is not a hobby, its a way of life. Whether we are talking Bosnia or Baytown, its always better to be armed. Why do you think Texas is called the "Friendly State," everyone is too afraid of offending someone and getting shot.

I may live in Oklahoma, but I'm still a Texan.
