BBC documentary, The Blue Planet

Anyone seen this series? I don't know if it's been broadcast in the US but I assume it has. Just wondering if it's as good as I've heard it is. I got the DVD boxed set recently but haven't started watching it yet.

It's excellent. I have the DVD's as well and they are almost worn out :-)

I've seen a couple of the episodes and they are really intriguing. Showed me lots more than I could have imagined was in the ocean.
Here's a ten minute video clip/preview to whet your appetite.

Great, now I'm really looking forward to watching it. I also picked up the complete Cousteau Odyssey series boxed set. 624 minutes running time... it'll bring back a lot of memories as a kid watching it on TV. It's what got me interested in diving at an early age.

BBC documentaries are good!
The Blue planet is probably one of the best they've made.

An older thread...but I just picked the Blue Planet series up from Costco and am nearly through it the first time.

WOW. Love it. Can't figure out HOW they got this footage to begin with.

Blue Planet: Discovery Channel

Would make a nice Christmas gift to any ocean lover.

When you get to the last disc in the series, there's a fair bit of behind the scenes/making of footage. Yep, they were keen.

Great series. Love it.

I watched the entire series a few years ago - same guys did Planet Earth a few years later. I found the Blue Planet series incredibly fascinating to watch. If they have it at Costco, would make a good gift for someone at Christmas or to get the little ones interested and excited about diving when they get a little older.
