To dive: Belize, Costa Rica, Fiji and the Great Barrier Reef.

Other: Hot air balloon ride over vineyards, shark cage diving, sky dive, see glaciers, gondola ride in Italy, and visit an assortment of national parks.

funny how many people are saying the Andria Doria, and all of them are relatively new divers. All latest reports on the wreck say it is completely colapsing to the point it isn't a great dive anymore, even on a really good day. All of the china and other treasures are gone now or in totally inexcessible areas.

As for my Bucket List:
NC wrecks - some of best WWII wrecks outside of pacific! (doing this next summer)
Truk liveaboard- WWII wrecks, too.
Indonesia - a week on each side of Lembeh
Philippines - at least 10 days
whale sharks somewhere
Socorros, Cocos, or Galapagos liveaboard for big critter encounters!

non-diving:
go back to Europe with family, visit some new places for us like Greece and Turkey. Best way is probably a Mediterranean cruise or two.
I would also love to go on a Rick Steves backpacking trip, those look like such a blast. Check out his website.
go to India
go on an African safari (taking photos and videos only)
go to Egypt (would be nice to dive there too)
a week in Mexico-Belize doing nothing but visiting Mayan ruins!

I haven't considered making a bucket list yet but it is a thought provoking topic for me. Nepal & Tanzania are two non diving destinations that would make my list. Galapagos and Indonesia would be on my underwater bucket list.

I think it has to do with the amount of books that are written about the Doria. I would venture to say that the Doria is the most famous deep technical wreck dive. There are others that i think would be one my list over it but i too would like to see it, its just not very high on the list right now.

my list in no particular order:
Caves
Eagles Nest
Diepolder 2, 3
Cathedral Canyon
Wakulla Springs
Cannonball Spring
Madison Blue

Wrecks
Andrea Doria
UC-97
Dunderburg
Rouse Simmons (christmas tree ship)
Brittanic
Titanic(sub)
The Wisconsion
Car Ferry Milwaukee

Misc.
Lake Baikal
Antartica
Great Barrier Reef (austrulia)

Like Scuba Pete said, I chose it because I have read one book, The Last Dive, that talks about iti and plan to read others on it. Yes I am young, but isn't the point of a bucket list to make a list of things you plan to do? I do realize that I am far from being capable of diving that wreck as of now but technical diving is my ultimate goal. If it isn't worth diving at that point then I'll choose otherwise.

All of you who have NC wrecks on your bucket list, please feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to give you some good advice on whatever you need. I'm flattered, as someone who was born in this fine state!

The reputation of the dive is the attraction. Kinda like why so many mountain climbers aspire to climb Chomolungma. K2 is technically harder, other peaks are more picturesque but Chomolungma is the highest, so gets the gong.

The Doria is the best known "Everest of Diving", right or wrong. It's a dive you do just to say you've been there, done that.
