However, my wife had a hellacious flu last spring, so I'm really starting to rethink that position (although I've been to lazy to do anything about it yet)... |

Came down with this new flu out at Lackland AFB in Texas a few months back. It really does screw with your lungs. Felt like the flu mixed with pneumonia. Had a constant stream of flem coming out of my lungs which eventually started messing with my stomache and caused me to be unable to keep anything down. Finally ended up in the ER when I fell out before PT one morning from dehydration from throwing up the previous night. Was given two IV bags and was back out at PT the next morning...
![]() I still don't like flu vacs, especially the mist which is still made with the live virus. Don't trust em, I dont I dont I dont ![]() Get to feelin better navyhmc! Glad the vaccine didn't mess ya up too bad. |

I had the flu a few years back and first felt like I was going to die and then began to wish I would.....Ever since then, I've gotten the shot. Except of course this year when as mentioned earlier, it's impossible to get in OK unless you fit into one of the specified categories. We were supposed to have our usual drive through shots at the hospital-they had to cancel due to lack of vaccine. Here on campus they were giving out vaccinations at remote locations-my boss went over 30 minutes early to get in line. There were already 68 people in line and they only had enough for 50 shots. The other tech has already been out all week with flu-like symptoms.....

Crap! That means I've had swine flu since birth. Any sudden cravings for brains, braaiins.... could be a bad sign. Hope you don't get feeling too crappy, wish the best. But soon, you will be invincible to microbes. ![]()

300 days.....
I haven't gotten a flu shot in about 10 years or so and I haven't had any problems. I get a cold about once a year but no flu. If I worked in an environment like you do Navy it would be something I would consider. |

I haven't had a flu shot in many years, but ya never know these days. I'm still taking my chances, and indulging in 4000 mg vitamin C a day during cold and flu season. I've always been a believer in keeping the immune system healthy.......so far so good. Glad to hear all is well Navy!

You know...I have just about made myself crazy reading up on the vaccine. I might sound crazy, but I'm not even going to consider it until they have the themerisol free version. Even when that is available, I'm not sure if I'll get it. I'm a little nervous about my unborn baby and myself being a guinea pig for the CDC. It's hard to know what to do.

Have never had a flu shot, and never had the flu. Hope to keep it that way. Luckily the siblings and I always seemed to have some natural immunity and skipped most of the childhood diseases as well. Didn't even catch the chicken pox when my daughter had them. On the other hand, Hubby had a nasty bout with the flu back in our college days, so now he gets the shot every year.
