The WHAT FLU!???

So, here I am working the wet mean streets, snatching lives from the jaws of death, pulling people back from the edge of oblivion, etc. A person of shall we say not so stellar intelligence comes up to me at a local convience store (Coffee, it's not just for breakfast anymore and it now comes in a convienent IV compatible version...) and asks if we've had a lot of problems with...

Wait for it....

"The BUTT FLU!!!"

She then said "You know, that "Hiney flu"....!"

Seem the person thought they were reading "H" "I" "N" "I" not "H" "One" "N" "One"

So watch out all for the hiney flu!!!! (It'll get you in the end?!)

Navy, wasn't sure at first where you were going with that one.

I'm getting so paranoid about this thing (the flu, not the butt thing). I've had to put together a business plan for this at work, my wife is sick (don't think it's the flu, but maybe) She's going to the doctor today. We are sending about 10 people home a day at work with "flu-like" symptoms. One of my dive buddies called last night and she has Influenza A (I'm almost refusing to call it H1N1). Her husband has gone to the doctor for preventative stuff. We are all suppose to leave next week for Bonaire. I'm living in Germ-x and lysol and taking enough vitamins that would fill an elephant. I can see it now, everybody is going to get over this and then it's going to hit me, just before we are suppose to leave.

Navy just like you I am dealing with the ill in the streets. My last call before a two week vacation Flu- like symptoms. Two days in Cancun and bang fever/chills/cough. Didn't matter what infection control I did the person who couldn't tell me what they had was still intellectual enough to pass on the germs. All better now though thank go for OTC Zithro enabling me to heal to pass the random IR scan at the airport.

It's going around big time here too. Like Snagel, vitamins and lots of washing. I hate going to Wal Mart.

Snagel, igo get the vaccine! Although theoretically it does take 1-2 weeks to provide immunity. I'm not usually a fan of vaccines, but I got my hiney one Monday the 19th. And be crazy rigorous with handwashing and such while traveling.

Now just so the masses don't go running out to buy zithromax, the flu is a virus, zithromax treats bacterial infections. Most people who get really sick with a virus start taking an antibiotic when they get desperate, and then get better. So they think it was the antibiotic when indeed it was simply the natural cycle of the virus. Possible that you had a superinfection on top of the flu of course. Generally those proclaim themselves when someone is getting worse, not better, after a week or so, or with late breaking fevers after days of no fever. Sorry tfd86, you know this, but others might not.

Everything is OTC in Mexico, and what in the world do you want Zithro for, it does not treat the flu.

Only thing that helps the flu once you have it are drugs like Tamiflu and they only shorten the duration and intensity of symptoms. If you don't want to get the flu, get the vaccine!

Many kids & many opportunities for ear/respiratory bacteria infections in the future years....
No flu in this house as we probably had it last June...h1n1 was not diagnosed/confirmed for my kids, wife or I; but several others at the kids camp were confirmed....Swine flu grows in Indian River, including possible outbreak at youth camp » TCPalm.com

I just reread the post & it definitely says OTC & address location listed is definitely NY...

I have not been to Cancun & don't know what is OTC but I wanted to make sure people knew zithromax is not OTC in the u.s.
