USS New York 9/11 Salute
Wow. If this doesn't make you misty or mad or both, you ain't an American. Also thankful.

ok I don't want to be anal or technical but if the ship isn't commissioned it isn't officially the USS New York the "USS" gets added after the commissioning. I THINK... but still it's pretty awesome ship

When the Navy takes ownership of the vessel, it's officially "USS" however, most ships are referred to as "USS fill in the blank" from the time it's designed. If it's US Navy, it's "USS"
And for those that are interested, the steel from the world trade center forms the bow of the ship so that essentially the world trade cetner is the first part of the ship. This stems back to wooden ships when the finest wood was used to make the bow and the bowsprit of a ship because that was the part that needed to be the strongest part of the hull.
