Cookie Fight!! At Work Goofiness!

We had several cookie fights at a customs bonded warehouse I worked at. What kinda complete goofiness have you perpetrated while getting paid to do something entirely different.

There have been a few confetti fights, computer chair races, Fling shot fights....

I recall a water balloon fight that almost sent me to the hospital. My partner and our rider didn't even come to my aid. Thank god I recovered-wouldn't want to have to explain that injury.

As a former buisiness owner and manager, never tolerated it. I gave them plenty of time to "decompress" and plenty of "team building".

And before that, I did not rip off the people paying me to do a job.

Unless you consider when I worked at a KFC in high school and played the air guitar while cooking.

I guess office antics and misdirected priorites set US apart from the rest of the world...nevermind.

Sorry. A job is not an entitlement. I have seen too many heads down and motivated people these last couple years get kicked to the curb because of LIFO.

I have no problem with antics during work. But the comment "while getting paid" set me off.

Inference being, you were not accomplishing the task for which you were being compensated. ie. stealing.

My apologies, this was during down time when even no sweeping to be done. Seriously, we called it zero time. Our warehouse manager, first civilian job, after 24 years in the Air Force running warehouses, was our guy. When there was nothing either of us could find for people to do, yet we had to wait for shipments, or customs to clear items, we would have to just sit there. We weren't going to dick around on the internet, and while we were snacking, the first cookie fight occurred. With our corporate managers there, waiting for the 'clickers' to show up, for inventory. We basically couldn't touch any stock or received, until they did their magic with us in escort. Cookie fight made it into the corporate news letter.

Not in my lab, not on my shift. You want to stuff about, do it on your own time. If there's down-time, use it constructively. Go catch up on reading some research papers, check out a lecture, even learn a new skill or technique. There's just too many dangerous things lying around to start screwing about.

There has been the odd game of latex-glove cricket in the long corridor on a post-work, pre-pub Friday arvo, though.
