Last night, after the ScubaDillo meeting, DallasDiverGirl and I left the building. On the way out of the restaurant, I opened the door for her. A few minutes later, we were joined by Torrey and somehow we got into a discussion about manners, specifically holding the door open.
In my experience, when I've held the door, I've been greeted with eveythng from a smile and a "thank you" to a stern rebuke ("I can open my own door!"). So, the question, aimed at the men really is: in this, 2007, do you still open the door for the ladies? // I was going to post this in the Man Laws section, but I though the ladies (those who do not lurk in ML) might comment. The poll is multiple choice.

I couldn't vote....cause I'm not a guy. But, Fooman2 is very much a gentleman and opens building doors & car doors for me all the time. I'm a little old fashioned...so I like it. I plan on teaching my boys to do the same.

I thought of making two different polls: one in Man Laws, with the above options and one in Women's Issues, asking questions along the line of "Do you expect the man to hold the door open for you?"

I really don't understand why women get offended if a male opens doors for them. I don't expect a guy to open my car door or pull out my chair, but it's nice surprise when they do.
