Columbia does not have an ROTC program. If a Columbia students wants to do ROTC they must go to a nearby college.

While a Columbia student can join the ROTC, he just can't do any sort of activities at Columbia.

The original purpose was Vietnam. After 9/11 it's because of Clinton's Don't Ask/Don't Tell policy. HOWEVER, Iran has a certain policy of you tell, we kill you. Yet their president was allowed on campus!

Now, the President ripped into Im-A-Nut-Job. So, you have to give them credit for that. Although, some folks (Bill Oreilly for one) thinks he only did this to make himself look better, and not so crazy-left.

Who knows...?

Oh, and NPR, yeah... that's to be expected I guess.

The program was removed from Campus in 1969, as you said because of the Vietnam war, was it ever seriously being brought back after 9/11?

Providing support for an ROTC program while you are right it is not on the physical campus, is more support than many campuses provide when they don't run it themselves. As for letting someone speak: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
The lives of many have been lost to uphold this freedom, and if it is not given one it is liable withheld from many.

Now let's get back to diving!

I believe they cancelled their comedy hour.
Which explains why you weren't interviewed, but the question about our President still stands ...

I can't find an article reporting NPR turning down an interview with bush, either, but did find this NPR interview with Bush from 1/29/2007http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=7065633
So Bush WAS interviewed....

So back to the original poster, ROTC is an acknowledged offering through but not AT Columbia, it is offered at Fordham and Manhattan colleges (which are nearby).

Bush Was interviewed.

And many historians would want to interview Hitler...the free exchange of ideas is major foundation in this country. And yes, even evil dictators are given the same freedoms in this country when they are here.

If I answered what is wrong with this country I am sure, vitrol would spread far and wide causes us to don sealed exposure suits to dive.

They cut the ROTC program because they did not like the "do not ask, do not tell" policy of the military. Clinton was the one that put that policy in place, not Bush. Everyone knows that Columbia has always been been so far to left they can not see the middle. NPR is the same way. The next year or so is going to be a nightmare.

Sorry it was cut in 1969 well before Clinton.

I'm sorry but this is one of the biggest problems in this country, the talking heads are supposed to be news reporters, reporting news and NOT making political commentary.

I know everyone blames the liberal media, but the ones making the loudest cry against the liberal media are the non-liberal media, their competition.

The talking head need to get FACTS straight, rather than leaning in their political direction.

And that is why I call em "talking heads" When I was a fire fighter trying to get a 3 year old girl in a burning house and some idiot was breaking out windows to "let the smoke" out, they thought he was a hero for doing that. They did not show the interview with my chief telling them that their "hero" almost killed me by letting all the oxygen in and causing the house to flash over. All they want is a pretty face, male or female spout the most inane dribble.
