The Great Bean Dip Challenge

As Most have seen there was a bit of a gathering at CSSP Sunday. While the purpose of this get together was fun and fellowship, there was also some very serious scientific work being done as well. No fish counts were performed, no hydrilla health checks, not even equipment comparisons. Foo conducted a bean dip challenge to see if brand X (at half the price) could compete in taste with brand Z (the overpriced nat'l brand). After exhaustive testing, brand X was preferred over Z nearly 3to1. Hope this info helps next time you find yourself stocking up for your next party. BTW The music on the way home was just an added bonus

It will help me wonder what brand X is supposed to be.

Brand X was Brookshire's HyTop Bean Dip! And Brand Y was Frito's Bean Dip! Go figure!

There are many store brand products that are just as good (and sometimes better) then the major brand. We did extensive tests in school about seeing if we could tell the difference - surprisingly, most of the time you couldn't!

Most of the time store brands are just private label versions of the national brand.

We had a lot of fun with that taste test.

What are we going to try out for the next gathering?

Any suggestions?

We can test anything but tortilla soup. It would be a waste of time, as they would all pale in comparison to the Foo2 recipe

People have this awful notion that cheaper always tastes worse than more expensive. I've discovered so many very tasty things by ignoring this dumb rumor.

Should I assume this means that you were living up to your username on the way home?
