Thumbs up Book of the Surface Interval Club

(Although technically this topic does not belong here, since it is scuba related )

What are your recommendations for good books about dive fiction (that I can read on the plane to my tropical dive destinations).

I read "MEG" several months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nut much scuba diving in the book, mostly in submersibles, but the shark info was very interesting and plausible.

Meg : a novel of deep terror / by Alten, Steve.

On a top-secret dive into the Pacific Ocean's deepest canyon, Jonas Taylor found himself face-to-face with terror. The sole survivor of the mission, Taylor remains haunted years later by what he saw. Written off as a crackpot, he insists that the prehistoric shark known as Carcharodon megalodon still swims the deep underwater chasms. Only an urgent call for help from one of his oldest friends can persuade him to return to those deadly waters. Now Taylor will relive his darkest nightmare, only to find that what he saw before was only the beginning. For what lies deep beneath the waves is a horror that could turn the tides blood-red until the end of time....

It is an old book, but I finally got around to reading "Rasie the Titanic" by clive cussler. I found it to be a very good book. Mainly submersibles and not diving, but was a good read.

A (diver) friend of mine recommend this book just yesterday. I have not read it but he raved about it. It's now on my list of books to read

Riptide by Douglas Preston

It's not fiction, but Shadow Divers was very interesting. I had a hard time putting it down.

A funny book is "So, You Want to Live on an Island" by Gay Morse. It is an accumulation of humorous stories that she has collected while living and diving in the Cayman Islands for over 20 years. Gay is the manager at Pirates Point Resort on Little Cayman Island.

Like RoadRacer said quite a few of Clive Cusslers books deal with the ocean, not entirely diving focussed but great reads none the less.

Ice Station by Matthew Reily is a great book, has a bunch of diving segments in it which are pretty cool. If I had to compare him I would say he is like Cussler on steroids, very violent action packed book

Rapture of the Deep, Dark Descent, Diver Down, Caverns measureless to man. Shadow Divers. Deep Descent.

These are all non-fiction, but really good.
