Question Holiday Tree vs. Christmas Tree

The government in many states has been forced to rename there Christmas Tree displays to Holiday Tree displays, but they have Menora displays and they do not call them Holiday Candle Stick Holder displays??

What gives???????

Too many self-righteous whiners. That's what gives.

If you want a public celebration of Christmas, you aren't being sensitive to non-Christians and their beliefs. At the same time, if you tell someone they can't display a menora, you risk being labeled an anti-semite.

Good point, I never thought about it that way. (by the way, I think holiday tree is one of the stupidest thing I have ever heard of)

Whether you're Christian or not, it's STILL Christmas!

I agree, we are customed of hearing Christmas Tree. Holiday Tree sounds like any holiday - that's a bit confusing to me.

If your not a Christian, don't celebrate the birth of Christ. If thats not something you believe in, don't take that away from me. And I will not take away celebrations of your faith either. Let's just all live together and get along.

You could do what I have started and celebrate "Tossmas"

See the video here: Stoplight: Merry Tossmas

Thanks Larry and Joe for having Merry Christmas on you website. I for one appreciate it.

I saw this the other day...good stuff. Seems almost every holiday eventually turns into money...jewelry, flower and card sales on Valentines, dresses and chocoloate bunnies at Easter, candy and costumes at Halloween, turkeys and cream of mushroom soup at Thanksgiving, and all the crap you didn't get on any of the other holidays for Christmas.

I bet you could invent a holiday today based solely on performing a good deed for another person, and somebody would commercialize it. And the sad thing is, people would buy it.

It's called "Political Correctness." Isn't it funny (read: sad, annoying, infuriating, scary) how it only applies to some people? According to the rules of PC: a holiday should only be observed if it makes the observers believe that other people will see them as being brilliantly diverse, open minded and accepting for observing said holiday.

Next year I may have to cook 2 turkeys. A Thanksgiving Turkey and a Holiday Turkey. More leftovers that way.
