"WHERE CAN WE GET Jacques Cousteau dvds?,

Our little group of divers did a boat dive yesterday, and being 30 somethings, before we made negative entry, I said in a poorly done french Accent, "here we go, deep beneath the sea," and on our interval, we all laughed about it, then wondered where one can get those awesome shows he did. Being born poor and in the ghetto, watching those shows was like watching a moon shot. Now that were recreational divers, we'd like to go out and find his works. I'm also aware of his work with the "aqua lung," and other things he brougt us that we've ALL profited from. I would love to have them, I would love for my kids to see them, and hope it plants the same desire seed in them to join me in this splendid journey...(bad accent) "deep beneath the sea.

THANKS! I'd love to go out there, and find a box set type thing. I'm also suprised that they aren't still shown, on cable or PBS?? but I think I will go out and see what can be had. The man lived a productive life. I never thought I would be a SCUBA diver as a kid, no more than I'd think of being an astronaut. He planted that seed in my mind, I've no doubt. Thanks for the reply brotha'

Not sure where you are geographically, but I know the Georgia Aquarium has them as well. You could look them up on their web page and/or visit the shop.

Thanks for the Georgia idea. I'm from ohio, but am deployed to Curacao with the Airforce. We started out with snorkling behind the hotels breakers, then slowly went out farther and farther, past the sea wall, into the surge. We went nuts for it, and we've done OW, AOW, Rescue, 'trox, deep, peak, s+r and are all over 50 dives, and will file for master diver next week. NOT BRAGGING!! we are ohio boys who looked at the ocean as "shark week." When we go back to ohio; muddy water, like them Oklahoma guys We leave in three weeks, and on our last reef dive, I looked around at all the wonderful sea life, warm clear water, and fought back tears knowing Its closing down. "Scuba Toys" set all of us up with SOLID prices on our own gear, which is why I haunt the boards.

As for the direct links to the DVDs; THANKS! I come here from a Military computer, many comercial sites are hard to get to, I'll save those links and jump on that when I get back to the house. AND I WILL BE BACK TO SEA DIVING ASAP. Three more weeks

For those truly interested in Cousteau's work, look up FlashbackScuba. Ryan began a quest to revive Cousteau's legacy by restoring, reproducing, and displaying some of the artifacts from the show that he produced in the 60's. He has presentations around the coutry from time to time, so check his website, or e-mail him and see if there is an event close to you sometime in the future.

I met Ryan last year at a Vintage Divers event down if Florida. His stories were facinating. He also either had reproduced or had original gear from the shows. We went on some vintage dives, including a few at Weeki Wachee (although I didn't make it to those).

Here's a link showing some of the pictures from that trip. You have to read some of the post to find all the pictures as they were posted to photobucket.
